The temporary fence defines a non-permanent space, defining the space for the time it takes for means of production to occur. The context of an artist's project proposes that what is produced by the temporary production is the viewing of the object rather than a physical construction.
The viewing of the fences is the heartbeat.
Space is created between the object and walls by standing in the room. This space is the same as the space between the fences. The viewer walks within the structure and views it at the same time. The space between the interior fence and exterior, is object and space. The object is defining space and defined by space, while also the space is defining object and defined by object, the concentric progressions build both outwards and inwards.
Metaphorically the structure also functions as the superstructure and base, it is the ideology and the means of production, they both shape and maintain each other. The structure provides the context for the art object to exist and also functions as the art object. The institution's walls bind and hold up the structure,
It looks in a mirror,
This structure does not exist without institution. The metaphor of the superstructure and base is fulfilled and physicallised. By me making the work.
I pay my fees, I go to class, I present my work. It is framed and put on their walls.
After the assessment is done the work is returned and the room is empty.
The ‘construction’ is the maquette, after it is gone the work is finished.
The structure still stands.
